Percy Talbot has just been released from a five-year prison sentence. In search of a fresh start, she travels to the small town of Gilead, Wisconsin and gets a job at Hannah’s Spitfire Grill — the only restaurant in this struggling town. The Grill is for sale but with no interested buyers, Hannah decides to raffle it off to the person who writes the best essay on why they want the restaurant. Soon, things get hot at the Spitfire Grill when mail starts arriving by the wheelbarrow. This inspiring musical celebrates fresh starts and the power of what one person can do.
