What is the Ambassadors Program?

We're out to make our paying audiences as diverse as our non-traditional audiences, and we need your help to do it! We want you to become an Ambassador for TTT and bring new people of color to our paying shows. We'll reward you for your help!

Why have you created it?

We know from many years of experience that theater is absolutely richer when everyone is in the audience. We want everyone to see themselves on the stage and in the room. While our non-traditional audiences are incredibly diverse, right now our paying audiences, like those of many theaters, are not. We want to do whatever we can to encourage people of all colors to attend our paid shows, to make them feel welcome and engaged.

Who came up with this idea?

The artists. Our artists very quickly noticed that performing for audiences of people of all colors and perspectives is just more rewarding. A group of TTT's finest actors of color felt that our work would speak strongly to people in their communities, and so, over the course of several years, have created this program. The program has the strong support of all of TTT's staff, board and artists. We know it won't happen overnight, but with your help we'll make steady prgoress.

  • A Bonus To You: If you serve as an Ambassador for two shows, bringing new people of color to each, we'll give you a free ticket to the third show you see!

When is Ambassadors Night?

The Ambassadors Program is for every paid show, but our artists of color were quick to point out that it can be more than a little uncomfortable to be one of the only people of color in an audience — especially in TTT's shows where all the lights are on. So, for every production, we've created an Ambassadors Night (Saturday, May 12th for The Good Person of Szechwan) when our audiences can be sure to be in a room full of diverse people. You can come any night, of course, and our goal is to have every night of our paid performances be diverse as Ambassadors Night. In fact our goal for next season is to have two Ambassadors Nights for every show. Thank you for helping us make this big change!
